Colourful Modak

Ingredients:

1/2 grated papaya
Sugar-free sucralose (2-3 tbsp)
Ghee (-1 tbsp)
2 cups of wheatflour (approx. 30 gms) (1 cup of green modak, 1 cup of pink modak)
7 walnuts
10 almonds
Cardamompowder
Food colour (optional)

Method:

  • Heat a pan
  • Ghee (1 tbsp), let it melt Add grated papaya
  • Stir and cook it at regular intervals till stuffing sets
  • Mix it well and keep it on low flame
  • Add crushed almonds, add crushed walnuts
  • Make sure it doesn’t get burnt Cover it with a lid for 2-3 minutes
  • Papaya stuffing is almost ready
  • Take 1⁄2 cup wheat flour (for 1 colour dough) in mixing bowl
  • Add 1 drop of green colour to it, add some water Repeat same process for pink dough
  • Make small balls of the dough
  • Roll it out into pooris of 2.5-3 inches (diameter) Place 1 tbsp stuffing
  • Make close pleats on the edges and join the pleats giving a pointy top
  • Make all modaks likewise
  • Heat a steamer for 10 minutes till the water boils Grease a plate with little ghee (optional) Arrange all modaks on the steamer plate
  • Steam for about 15 minutes Modaks are ready for munching
  • Continue to cook till the base gets light golden. Then flip. Cook both sides till golden brown.
  • Serve oats chilla with 2tsbp curd or 2tsp mint chutney.
